Rape victims urged to talk to police

Police in New Plymouth still have not heard from eight women who say they were drugged and raped after drinking at bars in the region this week.

Rape Crisis has heard complaints from eight women who had been at pubs in New Plymouth and Stratford.

Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Coward says police would like to hear from the women so they can try to find those responsible. He says there is often a good reason why women don't talk to police but it's important they do so an investigation can be launched.

Coward is also warning people heading out this weekend to refuse drinks from strangers, not leave their drinks unattended and look out for their friends.
