Rape Crisis issue warning to women

Staff at Rape Crisis in Taranaki are concerned women who suspect they have been raped after being drugged are not reporting it to the police.

The organisation says the number of incidents in the region has grown to nine, after two more complaints came to its attention yesterday.

The police say they are investigating one complaint although it appears unlikely to be a drug rape at this stage.

Another case could not be confirmed.

The police however are advising women to take care when going out over the weekend.

Rape Crisis says anyone who suspects they might have been drugged and raped should go to the police immediately. One counsellor Lorraine Jans says women must move fast if they think they have been violated.
