Gov't denies coverup

Child, Youth and Family Minister Ruth Dyson denies she is obstructing Opposition attempts to uncover details of a sex abuse scandal in the late 1980s.

National and ACT believe the Government is trying to cover up how the last Labour Government dealt with allegations involving Glenelg Health Camp.

National's Katherine Rich says the Government sat on its hands after it received a complaint about sexual abuse at the camp.

Ms Dyson is laughing off the claim.

She says she has told National and ACT she will release information on the claims as soon as she receives it.

She says every effort was made to address the claims.

Ms Dyson says the then Social Welfare Minister Michael Cullen ordered an independent inquiry into one case where claims of sexual abuse were disputed.
