Crown opens its case against
Horowhenua teacher charged with indecently assaulting four former pupils The Crown has opened
its case against a Horowhenua teacher charged with indecently assaulting four
former pupils. Michael Neville is
accused of touching inappropriately, girls aged between seven and 10 at the
time, between 1999 and 2003. Prosecutor Katrina
Barber told the jury that they will hear evidence that the defendant was well
liked within the school community. In 2000 Mr Neville was acting assistant
principal. Ms Barber said that a
number of similarities would surface between each count. She told the court
the offences occurred in the classroom and on the playground. The accused had a
number of supporters in the gallery, including parents of children at the
school. |
