Girls give evidence against teacher

Three girls have now given evidence in the case against a Horowhenua primary school teacher accused of indecent assault.

Michael Neville is facing four charges relating to touching four former pupils under the age of 12.

One complainant has said that Neville touched her during class time, another says he touched her inside her pants in a storeroom.

Under cross-examination this afternoon the defence put it to one girl that she told her parents about Neville only after talking to another complainant at a school market day a few days before.

The lawyer also said the principal had to speak to her about telling other kids that she had got Neville into trouble.

The fourth complainant has started giving evidence.

The trial could go into next week.
