case in Palmerston North in sex abuse trial of a Horowhenua schoolteacher The defence has mounted
its case at the Palmerston North District Court in the sex abuse trial of a
Horowhenua schoolteacher. The jury has heard
crown evidence from four girls who are accusing Michael Neville of touching
them indecently. The claims relate to
the period from 1999 and 2003. Neville's lawyer, Bruce
Squire QC, opened the defence yesterday afternoon, telling the jury the
allegations have been devastating for his client. The defence is calling
16 witnesses. Neville himself has
started giving evidence. He told the court
yesterday that he was overwhelmed when he first heard the allegations had
been made. |
