Allegations
of Sexual Abuse |

The Horowhenua teacher
who has been acquitted of sex abuse charges against four former pupils says
he has not been put off the profession. Michael Neville was
this afternoon found not guilty at the Palmerston North District Court of
indecently assaulting four girls under the age of 12, leaving his family and
friends in tears of joy. The jury took 13 hours
to reach its not-guilty verdict. Mr Neville says it has
been a horrendous ordeal but he still wants to get back into the classroom,
because he still loves teaching. He says throughout the
past 18 months he has had tremendous support from other teachers and students
at the school. Michael Neville first
started teaching at the school in 1995. A number of teachers
from the school who were called in as defence witnesses during the trial
talked of how popular Mr Neville was with the students. |
