Nicholas vs John Dewar |

The Crown Prosecutor has told the
jury at the High Court trial of John Dewar it is not there to determine if
Louise Nicholas was raped. Today is the last time the jury
will hear from the lawyers before they begin deliberating. Crown Prosecutor Brent Stanaway
said the case relates to whether allegations of rape were made, not whether a
rape actually occurred. He told the jury Dewar was made
aware of the allegations on a number of occasions, from personal meetings
with Louise Nicholas and her mother, to her testimony at the trial of another
officer. Mr Stanaway said Dewar's decision
not to tell his superiors was ludicrous and he had no right to make that
judgement call. |
