Three of four men
convicted of pack raping a young woman in Mount Maunganui 16 years ago have
appealed against their convictions. The four were found
guilty of attacking the 20-year-old after a trial in the High Court at
Wellington last month. Lawyers for two men
whose names and occupations remain suppressed have lodged appeals against
both conviction and sentence. A third man involved,
40-year-old firefighter Warren Hales, who was jailed for five-and-a-half
years, has appealed only against his conviction. No date has been set
for the hearing. |
